The Delaware State Police have arrested two people following an investigation into possible illegal gun sales being conducted from a Blades residence.

On Thursday, Dec. 29, Delaware State Police Troopers assigned to the Pro-Active Criminal Enforcement team, with the assistance of the Delaware State Police Troop 5, conducted a search warrant at a residence in the unit block of West 2nd Street in Blades. Information had been gathered about illegal gun sales being conducted from the home, where officers found and seized two handguns, five assault weapons, four shotguns, two hunting rifles and over 9,000 rounds of ammunition. 39-year-old Dina Hawkins was arrested at the residence. 63-year-old John Phifer was taken into custody after he responded to Troop 5 on an unrelated matter.

Hawkins was charged with three counts of giving a firearm to a felon, 13 counts of possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, second-degree conspiracy and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $42,000 secured bail.

Phifer was charged with three counts of giving a firearm to a felon and second-degree conspiracy. He was released on $10,000 unsecured bail.
