1867 A school for African American children opened on Seaford's North Street.
1890 The town of Milton was almost totally destroyed by a downtown fire. Since no fire company existed, local men helped avert greater disaster by forming bucket brigades.
1958 H. Rodney Sharp deeded the Corbit-Sharp House to Winterthur Museum, thus beginning Winterthur in Odessa.
1959 Ethel P. B. Leach, dean of Delaware women painters, died at 81 and was buried in Barratt's Chapel Cemetery.
