Delaware Farm Bureau’s Promotion and Education Committee is co-sponsoring the Delaware Ag Safety Conference with the Delaware Department of Agriculture, The Grange and University of Delaware Extension Office.

The meeting will be held from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. March 7 in the Ag Commodities Building on the State Fairgrounds, 18500 S. Dupont Highway, Harrington, and is expected to attract 75-100 farmers.

Marty Tatman, ‎director of program development at American Farm Bureau Federation, and Delaware Secretary of Agriculture Michael Scuse will speak.

Topics will include “Equipment Handling & Mechanical Safety,” presented by James Glancey, of the University of Delaware; “Grain Bin Safety” by Margie Chase, of Nationwide Insurance; “Digital Signage, How DelDOT Helps Keep Farmers Safe on the Highway;” and “Pesticide Handling Safety” by Ron Jester, of AgrAbility.

MyEyeDr. will offer free vision screening. Delaware Department of Health and Social Services will offer information on its Protect Your Skin Delaware program and chronic disease prevention and control.
