Race Directors Rick Hundley and Ernie Felici, of Focus Multisports, recently donated $1,000 to the Linda & John Hollis Children in Nature Fund with proceeds from second annual 5K run/walk at the Sussex Outdoors Summit.

The fund, previously known as the Children in Nature Endowment Fund, is dedicated to the promotion of outdoor educational experiences for youth. Six years ago, Seaford resident John Hollis recognized the impact of getting out in nature and aimed to celebrate the diverse ecosystems and parks system throughout the state by founding the Sussex Outdoors summit.

In October 2016, in tribute to Hollis, state officials named the new Children in Nature Endowment after Hollis and his wife, Linda. The permanent endowment through the Delaware Community Foundation will provide opportunities for children to experience nature statewide.

Focus Multisports hosts a number of events throughout the year including the Coastal Delaware Running Festival on April 21-23, Justin’s Beach House on May 27, Athletes Against Alzheimer’s on Aug. 7, Bethany Beach Triathlon/Duathlon/Aquabike on Sept. 24, the Delaware State Parks Boo-B-Que by the Sea 5k on Oct. 21 and the Bethany Beach Surfin’ Snowman Run/Walk on Dec. 30.
