Ronald T. Postell, of Smyrna, was presented with the President’s Academic Award, which goes to the graduate with the highest GPA, during Delaware State University’s May 13 commencement ceremony.
Postell, a 2013 graduate of Polytech High School, completed his DSU academic journey with a 4.0 GPA, while earning a Bachelor of Arts in sociology.
He said he began as a freshman striving for A’s and B’s, but after he got straight A’s in his first semester, he was motivated to maintain that perfect standard.
Postell is aiming for a career in law enforcement and is seeking to become a police officer in Pennsylvania where his girlfriend is going to school.
He was one of three DSU students who were honored with the award for maintaining a 4.0 GPA. Also achieving that distinction were Daija Grier, a psychology major from New Jersey; and Timesha Ray, a textile and apparel studies major from Washington, D.C., who also graduated May 13.
