Parade Monday, May 29 is open to groups and individuals. Flags and donations are needed for Veterans Monument.

The Smyrna-Clayton Memorial Day Parade will be held in Smyrna Monday, May 29 at 10 a.m.

The parade route begins at Market Street Plaza and Commerce Street, then heads east on Commerce Street to Main Street, then north on Main Street, across Glenwood Avenue, and ending at George C. Wright Jr. Municipal Park (Smyrna Municipal Park).

Line up for all participants is 9:15 a.m. at Market Street Plaza.

After the parade, a memorial service will be held at the Smyrna-Clayton Veterans Monument at Wright Park on North Main Street. This year’s keynote speaker will be U.S. Army veteran Bill Willis.

The monument committee is requesting military flags or monetary donations to cover maintenance and upkeep for the monument. Donations can be made out to “Smyrna-Clayton Veterans Memorial Fund.” Organizations or families wishing to donate are asked to contact Tom Emerson 302-363-1021 or email at so that they can be called up during the ceremony.

In the event of inclement weather May 29, the parade will be canceled, but a memorial ceremony will still be held at the Clayton Fire Hall at 10:30 a.m.
