UPDATE: The Delaware State Police have identified the 57-year-old male that was killed in Friday evening's crash as George E. Keim of Seaford.
This crash remains under investigation by the Collision Reconstruction Unit.
The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that occurred east of Seaford on Friday evening.
The incident occurred around 6 p.m. on Friday, June 30, as a 57-year-old Seaford man was driving a 1997 Jeep Wrangler eastbound on Tharp Road, approaching a sharp left curve at the intersection of Pineview Road. Traveling at an unsafe rate of speed, the driver was unable to maintain control of the vehicle and spun out into a grassy yard, eventually overturning and ejecting the driver. The Jeep then came to a stop on top of the driver, trapping him underneath.
The driver, who was not properly restrained, was extricated from under the car before being transported to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing their investigation into this incident. It is unknown at this time if alcohol was a contributing factor. Tharp Road was closed for about three hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
