On a moped with his son in his lap
Delaware State Troopers have arrested a 48-year-old Rehoboth man after he crashed his moped while his son was sitting on his lap.
Anthony F. Taglienti was taken into custody by troopers on Tuesday, July 25, after responding to a report of a traffic crash around 6:30 p.m. in the area of the 19000 block of Golden Avenue in the Sea Air Mobile Home Park. An investigation revealed Taglienti was operating a 2012 Puma moped with his two-year-old son on his lap when he lost control, causing both of them to fall to the ground.
The two-year-old suffered several abrasions and was transported by EMS to Beebe Healthcare, where he was treated for the non-life-threatening injuries. Taglienti was also taken to Beebe by EMS, where he was also treated and released with non-life-threatening injuries.
A DUI investigation ensued and Taglienti was charged with fifth offense driving under the influence of alcohol, having garnered four previous offenses on January 26, 1998, August 1, 2006, August 6, 2006 and June 18, 2014. He was also charged w endangering the welfare of a child, third-degree vehicular assault and driving while suspended or revoked. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $17,200 cash bond.
