New Castle, Kent and Sussex County Farm Bureaus are accepting applications for a youth ambassador to represent their respective counties at state and county Farm Bureau events.

Awards are determined on a county-by-county basis. The term for all ambassadors will be September 2017 through August 2018.

County ambassador winners will compete for the position of state ambassador, who may be eligible to receive a $1,000 scholarship if certain criteria are met. Points are earned for attending various county and state Farm Bureau events; 20 points must be earned during term as ambassador to qualify.

To be eligible, an applicant must be a member, or child of a member, of Delaware Farm Bureau; have an active membership for more than one year with dues paid; and be a high school junior or senior at time of application.

Applications are available online at defb.org/programs.html or by calling 697-3183.

Applications must be typed, not handwritten, and accompanied by a head-and-shoulders photograph. Applicants must be prepared to give an oral presentation the day of judging.

Applications are due by Sept. 1. They must be postmarked by due date or may be hand-delivered by that date to the Delaware Farm Bureau office, 3457 S. Dupont Highway, Camden, DE 19734.
