A Wilmington man was arrested for his third offense charge of driving under the influence in Rehoboth Beach Saturday night.
Around 11 p.m. on August 26, 51-year-old James E. Leone illegally passed a Rehoboth Beach police officer on the right in his Jeep Wrangler on Wilmington Avenue. The officer then witnessed Leone drive over the curb and sidewalk at the intersection of Rehoboth Avenue and First Street.
The officer stopped Leone on Rehoboth Avenue and noticed signs of intoxication. After roadside sobriety tests, Leone was taken into custody and transported to Beebe Healthcare for further analysis.
Leone was charged with third offense driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, a felony, and traffic offenses. He was later released to a sober co-signer on $5,250 unsecured bail.
