UPDATE: On the afternoon of Monday, September 4, Georgetown police officers spotted 36-year-old Michael Lopez in the parking lot of the Georgetown McDonald's and took him into custody without incident. He was charged with first-degree robbery, two counts of possession of a weapon during the commission of a felony, two counts of aggravated menacing, two counts of first-degree unlawful imprisonment, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and carjacking. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institute in lieu of $318,000 cash bond.
UPDATE: The Georgetown Police Department has identified a suspect in two incidents that occurred on the evening of Tuesday, August 29.
Officers first investigated an attempted robbery at the County Bank at West Laurel and North Bedford Streets, where the suspect, 36-year-old Michael Lopez, unsuccessfully attempted to force the victim to get cash from an ATM.
An investigation revealed that the suspect introduced himself to the victim by way of social media and that both agreed to participate in the reality-based location game, PokemonGO. The victim met the suspect east of Georgetown and picked him up. During the ride, Lopez produced a box cutter and threatened the victim. After they both went to County Bank and Lopez attempted to force the victim to withdraw cash, he fled on foot.
A short time later, a short distance away on North Race Street, Lopez entered the driver's door of a parked car in which an adult female and two juveniles were sitting. He began to operate the car and traveled four or five blocks before getting out and again fleeing on foot.
Lopez is documented as homeless in the Georgetown area. The Georgetown Police Department has obtained warrants for his arrest.

At around 5:30 p.m., officers responded to the area of County Bank, at the corner of West Laurel and North Bedford StreetS, for a complaint of attempted robbery. The suspect threatened the victim with a box cutter and then forced the victim to attempt to withdraw funds from an ATM. After several failed attempts to get cash from the ATM, the suspect fled on foot.
At around 6:30 p.m., officers responded to the area of North Race Street for a carjacking complaint. An adult female and two juveniles were sitting in a parked vehicle when the suspect entered the through the driver’s door and began to operate the car. The suspect traveled four or five blocks before getting out and fleeing on foot.
The suspect in both incidents was described by victims as a white male of average build wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, a baseball cap and jeans. Anyone with information regarding either incident is asked to call Detective Mike Goins at 302-856-6613 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333.
