An adult male was recently found dead in a wooded area off of Wiggins Mill Road, west of Townsend, said a state police news release.

At about 5:45 p.m., on Aug. 27, state troopers were called to Wiggins Mill Road for a report of an unresponsive subject. Upon their arrival, troopers found a male subject lying partially in a wooded area in that vicinity.

The subject, later identified as a 33-year-old Florida man, was pronounced dead at the scene by responding paramedics. His body was then turned over to the Division of Forensic Sciences where an autopsy will be performed to determine the manner and cause of death.

The victim’s identity is being withheld pending the notification of his next of kin.

An investigation into this incident by the Delaware State Police Homicide Unit is continuing. More information will be released at a later date.
