The Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal announced today that investigators are asking for the public's help in identifying a suspect in an arson that occurred in a vacant building just outside Smyrna town limits on Aug. 21

The Citizens' Hose Company of Smyrna responded to a building fire shortly after 5 p.m. at the former Harris Manufacturing Company at 655 W. Glenwood Ave.

Multiple fires had been extinguished inside the building.

State fire investigators determined that the fires were intentionally started inside the building and declared the fires an act of arson, said Assistant State Fire Marshal Michael G. Chionchio.

Fire damage was estimated at $1,500, Chionchio said.

No one was injured.

A suspect was developed when the suspect’s image appeared on Snapchat starting the fires and filming the destruction.

Investigators are asking for the public’s help to identify this suspect. Anyone with information is asked to contact the State Fire Marshal’s – Kent County Division at (302) 739-4447 or Crime Stoppers at (800) TIP-3333.
