The “First Responders 5K Run/Walk” will be held Saturday, Sept. 16 at 6:30 p.m. in Smyrna to benefit American Legion Ambulance 64.

The “First Responders 5K Run/Walk” will be held Saturday, Sept. 16 at 6:30 p.m. in Smyrna to benefit American Legion Ambulance 64. A healthy kids run for ages 10 and under starts at 6:25 p.m., followed by the 5K.

Funds raised will be used by the ambulance service to buy a Lucas device which is a CPR chest compression machine.

The event starts across from George C. Wright Jr. Municipal Park (formerly Smyrna Municipal Park) on North Main Street. Registration, awards and all post-race activities will also take place across from the park.

The fee is $25. Registration on race day starts at 5:30 p.m.

Awards will be presented to the overall male and female winners, the masters male/female winners for ages 40 and over, the top three male and female runners in age categories from 10 and under through 70 and over, and the top five male and female walkers. Ribbons will be presented to all healthy kids run finishers.

First Responders 5K tech shirts and glow-in-the-dark bracelets will be given to all registered participants. Post-race festivities for participants include free food and beverages.
