A 37-year-old Townsend man has been charged with his fifth offense of the driving under the influence after he was found unconscious in his vehicle at the Valero gas station on East Main Street, Middletown.

Police responded to Valero at about 6:50 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 26, about someone unconscious at the wheel of his vehicle. Upon arrival, police met with James Sinex who was interacting with emergency medical personnel and apparently under the influence, police said.

Officers were advised by the medical personnel that they found Sinex apparently unconscious at the wheel of a motor vehicle and the keys were on his lap while the vehicle was parked on the side of Valero.

Sinex was taken into custody for suspicion of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, fifth offense.

He was arraigned and committed to the James T. Vaughn Correctional Institution in lieu of posting $6,000 cash bail.
