Small amount of fuel leaked

Delaware State Police are investigating a crash that occurred Wednesday south of Frankford and involved an overturned propane truck.

The incident occurred around 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 11, as a 37-year-old Georgetown man was operating a 1994 Chevrolet Kodiak propane truck (owned by Pep Up, Inc.) southbound on Pepper Road, just south of Lazy Lagoon Road. For undetermined reasons, the operator drifted off the west side of the road and overturned, coming to a stop in the yard of a private residence. A small portion of the propane leaked from the truck before another employee that was close by was able to seal it.

The operator was able to free himself from the wreckage and was slightly injured, but refused medical treatment.

The Delaware Department of Natural Resources responded to the scene to assist with cleanup of the spill. Police are continuing their investigation into the incident and no charges have been filed at this time.

Pepper Road, south of Lazy Lagoon Road, was closed for about three hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
