The robbery happened Sunday at about 12:46 a.m., at a residence in the 6100 block of Summit Bridge Road, Townsend.

Delaware State Police are investigating the armed robbery of a Townsend man that occurred at his home Sunday, Dec. 17.

The robbery happened at about 12:46 a.m., at a residence in the 6100 block of Summit Bridge Road, Townsend.

Police said the 31-year-old victim had just returned home and was attempting to enter at the back door. As he was unlocking the door, he was pushed from behind and knocked into the side of the house.

A male suspect placed a handgun in the victim’s back, ordered him to put his hands up and not to move. The suspect then removed the victim’s wallet from his back pants pocket.

After taking the wallet, which contained an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspect fled on foot in an unknown direction.

The victim wasn't injured.

The suspect was described as a black male, wearing a black sweatshirt, blue jeans, black mask and armed with a black, unknown make and model handgun.
