No injuries were reported.

A pole building used to store straw and pine needles burned down in Delmar on Thursday, Dec. 21.

The incident occurred around 4:50 p.m. in the 35000 block of Providence Church Road, at a building owned by Denison Landscaping. The Delmar Volunteer Fire Company, assisted by Laurel, Hebron, Mardela Springs and Sharptown Volunteer Fire Companies, arrived on scene to find heavy fire inside a 50- by 100-foot pole barn-style structure used for storage.

The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s investigation determined that the fire occurred when the exhaust system from a gasoline leaf blower ignited combustible materials.

No injuries were reported, but the building and its contents suffered severe damages estimated at $200,000.
