Icy conditions expected

The U.S. National Weather Service has posted a winter weather advisory in effect from Monday at 1 p.m. until 9 that evening.

Periods of light freezing rain, sleet and snow are anticipated during that time frame.

A few hundredths of an inch of ice will likely accumulate on untreated

roads and walkways. Also, there may be a few tenths of an inch of sleet and snow.

The weather advisory is for northern Delaware and northeastern Maryland.

Ice will likely create hazardous conditions on area roads and walkways. Icy conditions are expected to continue Monday night and Tuesday morning as temperatures remain below freezing at most locations.

This advisory means that periods of freezing rain, sleet and snow will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads and walkways. Slow down and use extra caution when driving.

The latest road conditions can be obtained by calling 5 1 1.
