Stole cigarettes from Exxon
The Delaware State Police have arrested a suspect in connection with two burglaries in Ellendale.
On Thursday, Jan. 11, at around 11 p.m., a suspect forced entry into the Delaware State Waste Authority facility, located at 13870 S. Old State Road, and remained there a short time before leaving without removing any property. Then, on Saturday, Jan. 13, just after midnight, a suspect forced entry into the Exxon gas station located at 18005 Beach Highway. Once inside, the suspect removed eight packs of cigarettes and a lighter prior to fleeing.
Working on information from an anonymous tip received via Delaware Crimestoppers, police were able to identify the suspect as 48-year-old Carl W. Schuyler, of Ellendale. On Wednesday, Jan. 17, police attempted to arrest him at a residence in the 18000 block of Schuyler Drive, in Ellendale. He initially resisted but was then taken into custody.
Schuyler was charged with two counts of third-degree burglary, two counts of criminal mischief, two counts of theft and resisting arrest. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $9,200 cash-only bond.
