Months of training culminate when more than 370 Special Olympics athletes and Unified partners — peers without a disability — from five teams from across the state compete at the annual Special Olympics Delaware State Bowling Tournament beginning at 8:45 a.m. Feb. 17 at Brunswick Doverama, Rodney Village Shopping Center, 1600 S. Governors Ave., Dover.

Shift times are 8:45 to 11:15 a.m., 12:30 to 3 p.m. and 4:30 to 7 p.m. Events include competition in singles, doubles, Unified doubles, bumper and ramp divisions.

Bowlers include children and adults representing the five SODE Areas are Wilmington Wizards, Newark Dragons, MOT Tigers, Kent Wild Kats and Sussex Riptide. Bowlers competed at area-level events in January before advancing to the state tournament. An opening ceremony will take place at the beginning of each shift, and medals will be awarded at the end of each.
