Former Smyrna resident Greg Reed, now chief executive officer of HomeServe in the United Kingdom, was selected for the award by a judging panel that included Sir Richard Branson of the Virgin companies and Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak.
Greg Reed, chief executive officer at HomeServe Membership, has been named by Sir Richard Branson and a host of stellar judges including Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, as Europe’s "Most Progressive Workplace Leader."
Reed is originally from Smyrna, Delaware.
The award was presented to Reed in London during the Talent Unleashed Awards 2017, which identify and celebrate and business leaders using technology to transform the world, creating bold and inventive solutions to business challenges or social issues.
Now in their fifth year, the awards celebrate progressive leaders across the globe, and the “Most Progressive Workplace Leader” category recognizes leaders globally who empower their employees by nurturing individuality and transforming their work environment through innovative staff engagement strategies which help inspire others.
Steve Wozniak, co-founder of Apple and a Global Talent Unleashed judge, said, “Greg truly believes in doing the things that make customers and employees happy, and success and awards come from that. He encourages even more giving back to the community. It's about brand building. When you do the right thing and care about your customers, you don't fear openly communicating with them both ways.”
After receiving the coveted award at the Talent Unleashed 2017 ceremony, Reed said, “It means the world to me to see the hard work of our people recognized like this. I say that because a leader can only be considered progressive if the whole team is pulling in the same direction. This is an honor I share with everyone at HomeServe Membership. They are instrumental in building the incredibly special culture we have here.”
Reed was joined by Kirsty Styles, Talent Manager at Tech North, and Linda Jones, partner at Pinset Masons, on the European short list for the award.
As part of the prize for winning the award, Reed has been invited to join other global winners on an all-expenses-paid trip to San Francisco to tour some of the biggest technology companies in the world and have lunch with Steve Wozniak at one of his favorite San Francisco restaurants.
