Mark R. Reedy struck fiancée, pointed gun at her

Delaware State Police arrested a Millsboro man after he assaulted his fiancé and pointed a gun at her around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 7. Troopers were called to the 24000 block of White Street, in Shawn's Hideaway, for a physical domestic complaint.  Further investigation revealed that during the altercation, the victim was dragged by her hair and choked by her fiancé, identified as 53-year-old Mark R. Reedy. Reedy then obtained a semi-automatic handgun from inside the residence and struck the victim on the back of her head, while indicating that he was going to kill her and himself. The victim was able to flee on foot to a neighbor’s residence, where she was taken to a local hospital and treated for assault-related injuries.

Prior to police arrival, Reedy had fled the residence on a golf cart and was later located riding around in the camping section of the development, where he was taken into custody without incident. The handgun was recovered and seized from the residence where the incident occurred.

Reedy was charged with aggravated menacing, strangulation, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, third-degree assault, terroristic threatening and unlawful imprisonment.  He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $65,000 secured bond.
