Some fun First State events to dive into this weekend.
1. Some of today’s most relevant topics, including health care, have made their way into the farcical show “You Me and ACA Makes Three.”
How far would you go to secure health care and gain a few tax benefits?
Justin and Taylor are best friends and roommates living the dream of poor artists in New York City. Under pressure to save money for his upcoming nuptials and get health care coverage, Justin has been a bit overly creative in reporting methods when completing his tax returns.
So what could possibly go wrong when the IRS schedules an audit?
This silly production, presented by Bootless Stageworks, will run at St. Stephen’s Church, 1301 N. Broom St., Wilmington at 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday; and at 3 p.m., Sunday. COST $15. INFO bootless.org or 887-9300.
2. Notable Philadelphia cover band Split Decision has toured and played packed houses from Vermont to Virginia.
With a combination of stellar musicianship, dynamic personalities and a never-ending mix of songs, the party band specializing in rock and pop has become one of the top cover bands in the City of Brotherly Love.
Split Decision will perform at the Fire & Ice Lounge of Dover Downs Hotel & Casino, 1131 N. Dupont Highway, Dover at 9:30 p.m., Friday. COST Free. INFO doverdowns.com or 674-4600.
3. There are other forms of life besides ours; and the Brooklyn-based band Cousin Earth is one of them.
Formerly known as Ukulelien, the gang offers infectious folk and rock. With both an original repertoire and a depth of covers, Cousin Earth spans a musical range that brings both a sense of playfulness and technical ability to the music.
From bluegrass to electronica, this band will take any song and modify it for the ukulele.
The outfit will invade Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats, 320 Rehoboth Ave., Rehoboth Beach at 10 p.m., Friday. COST Free. INFO dogfish.com or 226-BREW.
