The Middletown Town Council on Monday approved a plan to bring a well-known beach brewery-restaurant to U.S. Route 301 on the west side of Middletown

Crooked Hammock Brewery of Lewes will open a second location in the Middletown Auto Park. The development will include an 8,000-square-foot restaurant, 650-square-foot screened porch and a brewery.

Crooked Hammock's first location on Kings Highway in Lewes was opened in 2015 by La Vida Hospitality Group which includes the restaurants Nage, Root Gourmet, and Big Chill Surf Cantina.

Mitch Rosenfeld, managing member of La Vida Hospitality Group, said he expects to break ground for the Middletown brewery-restaurant in August and open in March next year. The restaurant will need a liquor license.
