Outlook for March 20-21

The National Weather Service has posted a winter storm warning starting tonight (March 20) with 7 to 13 inches of snow expected in northern Delaware.

Mixed precipitation, including sleet, has already started and is expected to continue into the evening. An ice accumulation is possible.

Precipitation will transition to snow late tonight and become heavy at times tomorrow. Snow will gradually taper off late Wednesday evening (March 21).

In addition, north to northeast winds will gust 25 to 40 mph at times.

The winter storm warning is from 6 p.m. today until 2 a.m. on Thursday.

Travel will be very difficult to impossible, especially on Wednesday. Be prepared for significant reductions in visibility at times. Power outages and tree damage

may occur because of the weight of the snow.
