Blue light bulbs being sold to benefit Autism Speaks

To help raise awareness of those impacted by autism, Townsend has invited the community to “Light It Up Blue” for the month of April.

Stop by town hall during the month and, for a donation of a $1 or more, you can have a blue light bulb to light up your home. The money raised is donated to Autism Speaks.

Town hall is at 141 Main Street. If you have problems going to town hall during business hours or have questions, contact Councilwoman Cindy Cook at 302-345-1914 or email her at ccook@townsend.delaware.gov

Donate $1 and pick up an Autism Speaks bracelet at town hall.

Every April, Autism Speaks kicks off World Autism Month beginning with UN-sanctioned World Autism Awareness Day April 2.

Joined by the international community, hundreds of thousands of landmarks, buildings, homes and communities around the world, light blue in recognition of people living with autism.

Autism-friendly events and educational activities take place all month to increase understanding and acceptance and foster worldwide support.
