Two-vehicles collided head-on north of Middletown on Bethel Church Road.

Delaware State Police reported today, April 11, that a Middletown woman has died from injuries she suffered in a two-vehicle collision March 16.

The woman, Gladys Arcuri, 73, was a front seat passenger in a Ford Escape in the collision north of Middletown, police said.

The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing its investigation, and no charges have been filed at this time.

The collision occurred at about 8:38 p.m., on Bethel Church Road, east of Fairview Avenue.

A 2018 Ford Escape, driven by a 53-year-old Florida woman, was traveling east on Bethel Church Road, just east of the intersection with Fairview Avenue.

A 1997 Pontiac Grand Am, driven by a 34-year-old Middletown woman, was traveling west on Bethel Church Road, when she failed to negotiate a slight right curve, crossed the double yellow center line, and went into the eastbound lane, colliding head-on with the Ford.

The driver of the Ford, along with two female passengers, ages 73 and 78, both of Middletown, were admitted to Christiana Hospital with serious injuries, and now the 73-year-old woman has died.

The driver of the Pontiac was admitted to Christiana Hospital with serious injuries. A 1-year-old infant who was a rear seat passenger in the Pontiac was admitted to A.I. DuPont Hospital for Children with serious injuries.

Bethel Church Road was closed for about two hours as the scene was investigated and cleared.
