Jameir Vann-Robinson died at Bayhealth Hospital Kent Campus
In the city’s first fatal shooting of the year, Dover police are investigating an early morning shooting that resulted in the death of a Smyrna man.
Dover Police Department spokesman Master Cpl. Mark Hoffman said that at about 2:04 a.m. Sunday, May 13, police were called to the first block of Mitscher Road to investigate reported gunshots.
Several shell casings were found, but there were no witnesses and no victims at the scene, Hoffman said.
A short time later, officers learned 20-year-old Jameir Vann-Robinson had arrived at Bayhealth Hospital Kent Campus via a private vehicle, with a gunshot wound to the back.
Vann-Robinson died shortly after arriving.
Hoffman said police are in the initial stages of their investigation and that he could not elaborate on what they have learned.
