Bayhealth registered nurse Richard Ricks is the recent recipient of the hospital’s DAISY Award for providing nursing care.
Ricks joined the Bayhealth Emergency and Trauma Services, Kent Campus team nearly three years ago. This is the second time Ricks has received the award, but the first while working at Bayhealth.
The DAISY Award is given by the DAISY Foundation, which was formed in 2000 by the family of J. Patrick Barnes. The Barnes family wanted to recognize the nurses who cared for Patrick and all the other “unsung heroes” of the nursing profession.
“If he is on the schedule, I know we will have a good night. Rich always has a great attitude. Even while he has a lot going on at home, he keeps a smile on his face and a positive attitude. Rich is amazing, and I aspire to be like him,” said Christopher Betz, nurse.
Ricks has been a nurse for more than five years, half of which have been spent at Bayhealth.
The DAISY Award is given by the DAISY Foundation, which was formed in 2000 by the family of J. Patrick Barnes. Honorees are chosen by nurses, administrators, peers, physicians, volunteers, patients and family. To nominate, visit bayhealth.org/daisy.
