New Castle 18-year-old was wanted for allegedly firing shots at a car full of people on Main Street July 1

The search is over for the suspect in the July 1 shooting on Main Street in Middletown.

On July 9 at about 6 p.m., Ramaj Thompson, 18, of New Castle turned himself in at the Middletown Police Department.

He was wanted for allegedly firing multiple gunshots at a car full of people near the Valero Gas Station at 38 E. Main St., police said. The vehicle was occupied by four people ranging in age from 6 to 23 who weren't injured. The gunfire struck the vehicle, shattering the rear windshield.

Thompson was taken into custody without incident and processed on the following charges:

first-degree attempted murder,

first-degree reckless endangering,

nine counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony,

four counts of aggravating menacing,

first-degree conspiracy.

Thompson was arraigned then transported to James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in lieu of posting $995,000 cash bail while awaiting another court appearance. He was also ordered to have no contact with the victims.
