Nicolas Lynn fled the store when a clerk refused to hand over money

A Dover man failed in his attempt to rob a local fast food restaurant when an employee refused to cooperate with him.

The incident took place at 3:54 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9 at the Burger King located at 221 S. Dupont Highway, Dover Police Department spokesman Master Cpl. Mark Hoffman said.

Hoffman identified the unsuccessful robber as Nicolas Lynn, 20.

The event unfolded when a man came into the restaurant and handed over a note demanding money. The worker refused and the man motioned toward his waistband and said he had a gun. The employee again rebuffed the robbery attempt, and the man fled from the store.

Dover officers coming to the scene found Lynn and took him into custody after being given his description by the victim.

Lynn was given a $7,000 unsecured bond on one charge of first-degree attempted robbery but was ordered held at the Vaughn Correctional Center for violating his probation.
