Melanie Ballard, 44, of Smyrna has been arrested in the case, Delaware State Police said.
The Delaware State Police have arrested a Smyrna woman, charging her with pointing a loaded handgun at her former tenant.
Troopers were dispatched for a trespass complaint in the 400 block of South Carter Road Wednesday, Aug. 22 at about 3:32 p.m.
Police said the former tenant, a 44-year-old man, had gone to the residence to turn over his keys. A disagreement ensued between the former tenant and Melanie Ballard, 44, of Smyrna.
Ballard displayed a handgun and pointed it at the man, causing him to fear for his life, police said.
Ballard was taken into custody without incident. Recovered at the scene was a loaded .40 caliber Glock 22 handgun.
Ballard was taken to Troop 9 where she was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and aggravated menacing, police said.
She was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on $25,000 unsecured bond while awaiting another court appearance.
