Smyrna police identified the suspect as 62-year-old Robert Halama of Dover.

A Dover man is facing one dozen rape charges after he was found inside a car with a 17-year-old.

The incident took place Thursday, Sept. 6 when Smyrna police did a check on an occupied vehicle parked off Rabbit Chase Lane.

Department spokesman Cpl. Brian M. Donner said officers contacted Robert A. Halama, 62, and the teen, who were inside the vehicle. An investigation showed sexual activity had occurred, Donner added, and further analysis indicated the two allegedly engaged in sexual acts multiple times over several months.

Halama is charged with 12 counts of fourth-degree rape, and was committed to the state Department of Correction on a $60,000 secured bond.

Anyone with additional information on other possible crimes committed by Halama is asked to contact Smyrna police, Det. Davis, at 302-653-9217, or their local law enforcement jurisdiction.
