After a fight at Smyrna High School, a Smyrna police officer was injured while arresting one of the students.

The Smyrna High school resource officer, who is a Smyrna police officer, was injured while arresting a student after a fight at the school Wednesday, Sept. 5.

The school staff, school resource officer and other Smyrna police officers responded to a fight involving three students in the high school cafeteria, police said.

During the arrest of one of the students, a struggle ensued.

The school resource officer suffered a minor laceration during the struggle, police said. He was treated for the laceration at Bayhealth’s Smyrna Emergency Room and was released the same day.

Two students were arrested on charges stemming from the fight, police said.
