No election will be needed for the Smyrna Board of Education this May. The two incumbent candidates were the only candidates who filed for the two seats that were up for election this May.

The filing deadline was March 5.

Christine Malec filed for re-election for the five-year seat. Malec has served on the board for the past 10 years.

For the two-year seat, Vetra Evans-Gunter filed. She was appointed to the board this year after the resignation of Ginger Barkley. A special election had been scheduled for the remaining two years in that term, but Evans-Gunter will now continue in that seat.
