A Dover man was killed and a Hartly woman seriously injured in an early morning accident on Route 8.
The crash occurred at 1:09 a.m. Aug. 15, on Halltown Road (Route 8) just west of the intersection with Brittney Lane, said Delaware State Police spokesman Senior Cpl. Bruce W. Harris.
Moises Velasquez-Gomez, 26, of Dover East Estates, died at the scene, Harris said.
The police investigation showed a pickup driven by Velasquez-Gomez was headed eastbound when it crossed the roadway centerline at a curve, Harris said. The truck ran head on into a passenger car driven by Alexandria L. Lundberg, 18, of Proctors Purchase Road.
Lundberg, who was wearing a seatbelt, suffered two broken legs, a broken wrist, broken ribs and a collapsed lung. She was flown to Christiana Hospital and admitted in critical condition.
Velasquez-Gomez was not wearing a seat belt, Harris said.
The roadway was closed approximately three hours while troopers investigated the crash.
