Four female residents of a home near Felton subdued one suspect who had held them at gunpoint and chased off another in a home invasion robbery attempt Feb. 22.

The crime happened on Ironmine Road west of Felton at about 10:40 p.m.

Delaware State Police responded to the home after a report of a home invasion robbery attempt. When troopers arrived, they saw the four female victims who had one of the suspects subdued on the living room floor.

The suspect who was being held by the victims was identified as Edwin A. Todd, 18, of Harrington.Todd was arrested without incident.

The residents said two men wearing masks and holding handguns entered the home through the back door. The suspects saw a 22-year-old female in the living room, demanded money and drugs from her, and asked if there was any one else in the home.

The suspects checked the home and discovered a 50-year-old woman, a 23-year-old woman and her 7-year-old daughter.

Todd gathered all the women in the living room at gunpoint and ordered them not to move. The other suspect searched the home for the items they demanded.

While Todd was distracted, the victims tackled him and held him on the floor. The victims also took control of Todd’s handgun.

When the second suspect returned to the living room, he saw what had occurred and while pointing his handgun at the victims ordered them to release Todd. The victims refused and dialed 911. This apparently frustrated the other suspect who grabbed the phone away from one of the victims before fleeing out the front door of the home.

Edwin A. Todd was taken to Troop 3 and formally charged with first degree robbery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, receiving a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, second-degree conspiracy, possession of drug paraphernalia, endangering the welfare of a child, possession of marijuana, criminal mischief.

He was committed to James T. Vaughn Correctional Center northeast of Smyrna in lieu of $46,350 secured bail to await another court appearance.

Police are asking for the public's help in locating the other suspect, described as a black man, 5'10 to 6' tall, 170-190 pounds, wearing a black mask. Anyone with information in this case is asked to call 697-4454 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333.
