A suspect fired a shot during an armed robbery at a gas station in Hockessin Friday morning, Feb. 26, and then a State Trooper later fired a shot at the suspect's vehicle. No one was injured, police said.
The robbery happened at the Shell gas station at 7441 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin, at about 6:30 a.m.
The suspects fled in a car southbound on Lancaster Pike. Around this same time, a State Police dispatcher who had just finished his shift was on his way home and spotted the suspects' vehicle on Lancaster Pike. He called back into work and provided information to on-duty dispatchers who in turn radioed the information to patrol units.
A perimeter was set up in the area by State Police and New Castle County Police. The suspects' vehicle was spotted by a Trooper and followed to area of Telegraph Road and Old Capitol Trail. The suspects stopped and the Trooper stopped. A Trooper fired his gun toward the suspects' vehicle.
The suspects then drove off, westbound on Old Capitol Trail, but became stuck in the snow at the entrance of Murray Manor I Mobile Home Community.
Four suspects exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Another perimeter was quickly established and the bandits were eventually taken into custody.
No one was injured.
The suspects were taken to Troop 2 where the investigation continuing.
