A 20-year-old Middetown woman was involved in a three-vehicle crash that closed Rt. 13 in New Castle early this morning, Aug. 18, at about 3 a.m.
Delaware State Police said a southbound tractor-trailer driven by Joseph Cannan, 42, of National Park, Va. struck the rear end of another tractor-trailer driven Farrell Harris, 40, of Petersburg, Va. at the split of Rt. 13 and Rt. 40.
Harris’ tractor-trailer was forced into the rear of a Honda Civic being operated by Kristie Watunya, 20, of Middletown.
Cannan’s vehicle, which was loaded with boxes of food, overturned into the parking lot of a former Exxon gas station between Rt. 40 eastbound and Rt. 13 southbound. He was treated for non-life-threatening injuries to his arms and legs and admitted at Christiana Hospital.
No other injuries were reported.
Rt. 13 southbound was closed for about two hours as the crash was investigated and the roadway was cleared.
The accident is still under investigation.
