On Wednesday, Lieutenant Governor Matt Denn unveiled Delaware state government’s first official blog, located at http://mattdenn.blogs.delaware.gov/. The subject of the first post was his brief foray into the world of used car sales at the state’s surplus property lot in Delaware City.

In a press release, Denn stated that his blog was the latest in a series of efforts he has made since he took office to use technology to bring state government closer to Delawareans.

These include the posting of podcasts of the education reform meetings that he and Education Secretary Lillian Lowery have held throughout the state (http://ltgov.delaware.gov/BackToSchool/podcast.shtml), and, in his role as Delaware’s federal stimulus czar, the webcasting of a seminar for small businesspeople on opportunities presented by the federal economic stimulus package (www.recovery.delaware.gov).

Neither Denn’s blog nor the other technological tools he has introduced have created any new costs for taxpayers. They have all been implemented using existing state employees and state equipment.
