Due to the Labor Day holiday Monday, Smyrna Town Council will meet on Tuesday, September 8, with a public hearing at 7:15 p.m., followed by the regular meeting at 7:30 p.m., at the Town Hall, Market Street Plaza, between South and Commerce Streets.
Normally, council meets on the first and third Mondays of each month.
Public hearing on proposed zoning amendment
A public hearing will be held at 7:15 p.m. on a proposed amendment to allow institutions of a religious, medical, charitable or philanthropic nature in the shopping center district if approved as a special exception.
Regular meeting agenda
In addition to a possible vote on the shopping center district zoning amendment, the agenda for the regular meeting includes:
• appointment of David Pleasanton to the Ethics Committee,
• presentation of 2008 audit,
• 2009 second quarterly assessment,
• trash collection contract,
• letter to League of Local Governments,
• proposed amendment to allow certain public and/or government uses in the residential zones,
• crossing guards,
• ARRA EDA grants,
• resolution for Georgetown Police Department.
