Two more candidates have filed to run for Smyrna Town Council in the April 26 town election.

On Monday, March 8, Robert Novotny of Lake Drive West and Thomas Carbine of South Main Street both filed for the at-large council seat with the one-year term.

This one-year at-large council seat will be on the ballot as a special election to fill the remainder of the term that was started by former Councilman Bill Pressley. Smyrna Council appointed DeFeo to fill the vacant position until the April election.

Elections for at-large council seats are open to candidates and voters from anywhere in town limits.

The deadline to file as a candidate is 4:30 p.m. on Monday, March 15 for all three positions.

Polling will take place on April 26 at the Citizens’ Hose Company firehouse at 103 W. Commerce St. in Smyrna.
