There will be two seats up for election this May on the Smyrna Board of Education. As of Friday, Vetra Evans-Gunter has filed for the two-year seat, while Christine Malec has filed for the five year seat.
Evans-Gunter was appointed to the board this year after the resignation of Ginger Barkley. A special election is being held for the remaining two years in that term.
Malec has served on the board for the past 10 years and she is running for re-election for another five-year term.
The deadline to file as a candidate is Friday, March 5 at 4:30 p.m.
The Department of Elections is located at 100 Enterprise Place, Suite 5, on the western side of Dover, in the Enterprise Business Park off of North Street, west of Saulsbury Road.
