Domestic dispute call ends in drug and weapon charges

On Monday afternoon, Troopers responded to a home in the 300 Block of Norway Drive, Dover, after a report of an altercation between a boyfriend and girlfriend.

Troopers talked with Malisha Rodriguez, 19, who said she was pushed by her boyfriend, Charles Roach, 26, during a verbal altercation.Rodriguez said Roach was no longer at the residence; however he lives at the home.

During the investigation, Troopers saw marijuana and drug paraphernalia out in the open throughout the home.

Troopers also talked with Morgan King, 21, who lives in the home.

Upon completing their investigation into the domestic incident, Troopers arrested Rodriguez and King because of the marijuana and paraphernalia located in the home.

Later, the State Police Kent County Drug Task Force prepared and executed a search warrant for the home because of the large amount of marijuana that had been seen during the domestic dispute investigation.

During the search, Troopers seized a 9mm semi-auto handgun along with 9mm ammunition, approximately 508 grams of marijuana, cash, and drug paraphernalia.

Malisha Rodriguez was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, receiving a stolen firearm, maintaining a dwelling for keeping a controlled substance, second-degree conspiracy, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Rodriguez was arraigned and committed to the Baylor Women’s Correctional Facility in lieu of $25,000 cash bail.

Morgan King was charged with maintaining a dwelling for keeping a controlled substance, second-degree conspiracy, possession of a narcotic, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana. King was arraigned and released on $5,250 unsecured bail pending trial.

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Charles Roach by Delaware State Police Troop 3 for the domestic altercation on a charge of offensive touching, and also for possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of ammunition by a person prohibited, possession of a deadly weapon by a person prohibited, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, receiving stolen firearm, maintaining a dwelling for keeping a controlled, second-degree conspiracy, possession of drug paraphernalia, and offensive touching.

Charles Roach should be considered armed and dangerous, police said. If citizens observe Roach, do not attempt to approach him, simply call 911 and report his location.
