Lillian Petriello of Smyrna, Delaware passed away Sunday, Dec. 20, 2009 in the Franciscan Care Center at Brackenville, Hockessin, Delaware. She was 91.
Mrs. Petriello was born August 18, 1918 in New York, New York, the daughter of the late Pasquale and Marie Campanelli Benedetto.
She worked as a seamstress in New York and New Jersey for several years before retirement.
Mrs. Petriello was a member of St. Polycarp Roman Catholic Church in Smyrna and was very devoted to her religion. Her hobbies included traveling, sewing and cooking.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Petriello.
She is survived by her daughter, Marie Aurora and her husband, Anthony; a sister, Madeline Sullivan of Carteret, New Jersey; her grandchildren, Steven Aurora and his wife, Inci and Dawn Shane and her husband, Gary; her great grandchildren, Gina, Michelle and Steven A. Aurora and Caitlin and Zachary Shane and her great great grandchildren, Brianna Carter and Isabella Crowell.
Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Wednesday, Dec. 23 at 10 a.m., in St. Polycarp Roman Catholic Church, 135 Ransom Lane, Smyrna, Delaware. Friends may call Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m., in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main Street, Smyrna. Burial will be in the Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, North Arlington, New Jersey.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Delaware Hospice, 911 South DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19901.
