OBITUARY: Eve Lynn Everett, 92

Eve Lynn Everett, 92, of Clayton, passed away Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at home, surrounded by her family.

She was born on Jan. 8, 1918, in Porta Down (County Armagh) Ireland, the daughter of the late Thomas and Della Mae Platt.

Mrs. Everett was a graduate of Madison College (now James Madison University). She was an elementary school teacher for 30 years in the Smyrna School District.

After her retirement, she loved to spend time with family and friends. She loved cooking, bird watching, and was an avid reader. Eve also shared in her family’s love of animals and helped raise many litters of hunting dogs.

Eve was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Robert L. Everett; and by her son, Robert L. Everett II.

She is survived by a daughter, Martha Lynn Everett of Clayton; a sister-in-law and very special friend, Louise Everett of Clayton; two nephews and their wives, Charles and Renee Everett of Lexington, Ky., and Chad and Lee Everett of Trappe, Md.; a niece and her husband, Teri Lou and Bruce Timmons of Clayton; a great-nephew; four grand-nieces, and her four-footed friends, Lyndy, Clayton, Dixie and Chloé.

Remembrance services were held Sunday, July 11 at 2 p.m., at Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus St., Dover, where friends were also asked to call before the services from noon until 2 p.m. Burial was at the Sudlersville Cemetery, Sudlersville, Md.

The family requests memorial contributions be given to Downs Chapel United Methodist Church, c/o Virginia Jones, 6703 Sudlersville Road, Marydel, DE 19964, or Kent County SPCA, 32 Shelter Circle, Camden, DE 19934.
