Abdul Sattar Amiri of Smyrna, Delaware passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the Christiana Hospital on Friday July 25, 2008 after a long battle with cancer.

He was 60.

Mr. Amiri was born December 31, 1947 in Herat, Afghanistan, the son of the late Abdul Baqi and Bulqais Ismael.

He was an employee of the Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill in Smyrna before being diagnosed with cancer.  Prior to that, he worked as an auto mechanic for 30 years.

He was proud to earn his United States Citizenship just one month prior to his death. He was particularly fond of his family and enjoyed spending time with them.

He is survived by his loving wife, Seema Aslami Amiri of Smyrna; five daughters, Sameera Amiri and her husband Sardar Alizaayee of Afghanistan, Saqar Anvari and her husband Hares of Switzerland, Rohina Nehmat and her husband Sayed of Smyrna, and Sunita and Shabana Amiri, both of Smyrna; two sons, Sohrab and Saeed Amiri, both of Smyrna; five brothers, nine sisters, seven grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Religious services were held on Saturday July 26, 2008 at 3pm at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Smyrna.
