OBITUARY: Lillian Phyllis Legar, 86

Lillian Phyllis Legar, 86, died Tuesday, December 29, 2009 in the Silver Lake Center, Dover, where she had been a resident since 1991.

Phyllis was born on December 8, 1923 in Sudlersville, Maryland to Joseph Merritt and Emma Anna Legar.

Phyllis loved children and spent many years as a child care provider in the Sudlersville area where she lived most of her life.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur Landers Legar and Isadore Merritt Legar, and a sister, Maxine Moore Legar O’Neal.

Phyllis is survived by a brother, Willard Pierce Legar of Kenton. She will be greatly missed by her niece, E. Deloris O’Neal Reynolds; her great friends, Gladys Truitt and Gladys' children, Omer, Jay and Gwen; nine other nieces and nephews; numerous great nieces and nephews and the many families and children she cared for over the years.

Services will be Saturday, January 2, 2010 at 1 p.m., in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main Street, Smyrna, where friends may call one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the funeral home to defray burial expenses.
