OBITUARY: Frank T. Knotts, 80

Frank T. Knotts, 80, of Smyrna, passed away Thursday, July 8, 2010, at home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on August 15, 1929 in Cheswold, the son of the late Walter B. and Clara A. Knotts.

He retired from the Port of Wilmington, as a crane operator in 1996 after 29 years. After retiring, he enjoyed working part time at Willis Auto Mall in Smyrna. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and camping with his friends. He will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and a caring friend to all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by twin son and daughter David A. and Beverly A. Knotts; four brothers, William, George, James, and Ernest Knotts and one sister Mildred Brittingham.

He is survived by his wife, Betty June Knotts; three children, Frank B. Knotts and wife Pam; Rosemary Mast and husband Dave; Frannie Barker and husband Chuck, all of Smyrna; two grandchildren, Chas Barker and wife Angie, of Dover; Robbie Barker of Smyrna, four step-grandchildren Davey Ann Davis and husband Robert of Clayton, Chrissy Mast of Dover, Steve Mast of Philadelphia, Pa.; Brian Mast and wife Jill of Smyrna; five great-grandchildren; Kiara, Ethan, Gabe, Alana and Sophia Barker, all of Dover; four step-great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Kolbey Davis, of Clayton; Brian Jr. and Lukas Mast of Smyrna; sister Anna Strimel, of Dover; brother Ralph Knotts and wife Mary Ellen, of Magnolia; sister in law Betty Knotts, of Dover and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be Tuesday, July 13 at 11 a.m., at the Smyrna Wesleyan Church, 433 W. Commerce Street, Smyrna. Friends may call Monday evening from 6-8 p.m., at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce Street, Smyrna. Friends may also call at the church at 10 a.m. Tuesday morning. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna.
